Today's Lesson

I Will Not Fear
In a dark age of anxiety, how can we shine like beacons of peace? It’s not easy to obey the command “do not be anxious” but it is possible, if we love what is most worthy of love! Perfect love casts out fear!

Talkback Questions

Use the following questions during small group time or with your family to dive deeper into tonight's topic.

  1. Anxiety often stems from loving temporary things (like money, possessions, or status) more than eternal things. Can you identify something temporary that you've been placing too much value on recently? How has this affected your level of anxiety, and what might it look like to loosen your grip on this?
  2. The sermon states that "anxiety indicates a lack of faith" and that faith is "not merely a lack of belief, but you don't see reality clearly enough." Share a recent situation where anxiety got the better of you. Looking back, what spiritual truths were you not seeing clearly in that moment, and how might remembering God's promises have changed your response?
  3. The sermon concludes with "Love what is most worthy of love!" What is one practical step you could take this week to shift your focus from temporary concerns to eternal values? How might this help reduce anxiety in your life, and how can the group support you in this?
