God's Calling
What started in 2017 with burden to reach people who were never going to step foot inside a church, turned into a vision for a coffee shop and a unique church plant in Georgetown Texas. It seemed like a crazy idea at first and most of us were pretty reluctant, but after a we spent 40 days of praying and fasting, God moved in such truly remarkable ways to confirm this vision and his calling on our lives that we had to surrender to it. The truth is that Jesus is Lord and how can we truly believe that and claim that if we don't do what he's asking us to do?
Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you? (Luke 6:46)
This question that Jesus asked is one of the most challenging ones that the Church has to wrestle with. How can we call him "Lord" if we don't do what he asks us to do?It's this question that led us to start Natio Church and it's what continues to drive us.
This sermon was the one that Steven preached where he shares his passion and testimony for this calling that God gave us.
Getting Started
Why a coffee shop? Coffee shops are one of the few places where people will actually come to sit and talk. We often talk about it as the modern day equivalent to the town well where people would gather so it gave us the perfect opportunity to be a part of the community we lived in. So we moved to Georgetown and we started the long process of getting 309 Coffee up and running while we met together in each others homes for bible studies and fellowship.
We all worked nights and weekends to renovate an old house on Main Street right off the square and turn it into a coffee shop. Things started out pretty simple with the church but they were beautiful and God really used those early days to teach us a lot about what it looks like to gather as a community of believers and how that can look different than what we were used to.

Gathering & Growing
Once 309 Coffee officially opened, we would meet there on Sunday evenings as a church. It was a bit awkward when people still came in for coffee and found a church meeting there but it was a great space to meet and to continue to remind us that the church is not a place, but a people who have been called out to follow Jesus wherever he leads! Our gatherings got a little more structured and we added elements like worship music, communion, and more, but we still tried to maintain the simplicity we have come to know and love. We even still had dinner together after every gathering which is a practice we still do to this day!
Overtime the church has grown and God has provided us with an awesome space right next door to the coffee shop! Even though are gatherings are a little larger and we have more room, our passion and mission has stayed the same! God is continuing to move and we are all excited to see what he has in store for us next!
