Today's Lesson

Leading Outside The Camp
In this passage, we are commanded to obey and submit to our church leaders. This topic can be filled with a lot of emotions and has been mis-handled and abused over the centuries, however, there is no getting around that this is a command, and so we will seek to redeem it together by understanding its true context. We are not called to build up our kingdoms on earth, but we are called to meet Christ “outside the camp” and that’s where our leaders should be leading us.

Talkback Questions
Use the following questions during small group time or with your family to dive deeper into tonight's topic.
- Why do you think that the concept of “submission” is one that we all struggle with so much?
- In this passage we are challenged to let your heart be “strengthened by grace”. Why do you think this is something that is emphasized so heavily and why is it crucial to servant leadership?
- What are some practical ways you think it would look like for ministry take place “outside the camp” (humble, not boastful or showy, etc.) and how might that contrast with ministry “inside the camp” (prideful, done for praise, etc.)
