Week 3 Guided Prayer

Week 3 The Lord’s Prayer : Matt 6:9-15

As I enter prayer now, I pause to be still; to breathe slowly, to re-center my scattered senses upon the presence of God

Our passage this week is Matthew 6:9-15 where Jesus teaches us to pray

Jesus said “Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,

Your will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our debts,

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”

We make space to consider fasting, giving, and feasting for this week

Fasting

what need or desire will you abstain from and trust God with as you seek Him?

Giving

Consider the ways you have offered or received generosity and its effect on you. How and what might God lead you to give?

Feasting

And what will you celebrate? Who will you invite to share in your celebration? What joy is waiting to fill your life as you remember God’s presence and faithfulness?

Let’s read our passage this week again and Listen to what the Holy Spirit may be highlighting for you today

Jesus said “Pray then like this:

“Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name.

Your kingdom come,

Your will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven

What is an area in your life that is causing stress and anxiety?

I give you that to you now.

May your kingdom come and will be done in that area

Give us this day our daily bread,

I name some ways you’ve provided for me today …

and forgive us our debts,

What do I need forgiveness from …

as we also have forgiven our debtors.

Who do I need to forgive ….

I do that now …

And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.

You know Lord, where I am weakest. Lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from evil.

For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses”

Thank you for you grace and mercy that meets me in all my weaknesses and all my failings.

Strengthen me Spirit to give forgiveness and mercy this week to those around me.

Is there someone that comes to mind I need to give forgiveness too?

I will feast this week on your daily bread and provision for me in every season.

Is there a time this week to set aside and enjoy a meal and celebrate this provision?

As we end today we say the end of the Lord’s Prayer as said in christian traditions all around the world

“And thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen”
