A New Master

In Augustine’s famous book The City Of God, he views Cain and Abel as the archetypal founders of two cities. The City of Man which is characterized by self-love, lust for power, and a focus on the here and now, while The City of God is characterized by the love of God and others, a desire to serve, and a focus on the eternal.
