God gives Daniel a terrifying vision of the future where nation after nation rises up and conquers and destroys. It is a hopeless picture of chaos, but then he also gets to see a vision of God on his throne, and the messiah coming to put an end to all the chaos and destruction. It's a message for patience and hope for God's people who are in exile and it's a message for us as well.
